Start Date: ASAP; Contract-to-Hire

Description:

Our client is an online marketing firm specializing in direct response marketing for Fortune 500 clients in the Financial Services, Communications and Automotive industries.  They're seeking a Senior Front End Web Developer to change the way they market online.  Ideal candidates must have 7+ year’s experience.  You will be working in a highly collaborative, people-first environment with competitive compensation and benefits and a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

 

Major aspects of this role are hands-on front end development, project management, and some information architecture.

 

Responsibilities:

    * Managemet 30% and Hands-on 70%.  May eventually become more management over time.
    * Developing, launching and maintaining consumer facing web-based e-commerce applications, including writing presentation layer code (HTML, CSS and Javascript) on a wide range of projects
    * Identifying opportunities for enhancing the consumer experience and application business performance through new functionality, standard development, and code optimization
    * Working daily with cross functional implementation team of 10 - 11 folks from; software engineers, testers, producers, programmers, Account Management, Project Management.
    * Daily status meeting for 1 hour with cross functional team for 2 - 3 weeks until site is tested and launched.
    * FED will participate in the daily project status mtgs and take all information then distill into actionable functioning tasks for site development.
    * Managing 3 - 4 internal folks + outside resources.
    * Collaborating with Operations Managers to develop and execute against production schedules (site launches and updates)
    * Collaborating with Communication Client team to map client and business requirements to platform capabilities
    * Collaborating with Technology Team to identify and implement new platform capabilities
    * Establishing standards for functional design and front-end code that support overall business objectives.
    * Establishing and performing ongoing quality assurance tests including functional testing and browser/OS interoperability
    * Interfacing with internal and external technology resources
    * Career development and management of Web Developers and Design/Creative Staff
    * Oversight of outsourced production activities, including establishing working processes and quality management.

 

Requirements:

·        Must have managed a team of at least 2 developers.

·        Expert knowledge of MS Office Suite, web production toolset, HTML, XHTML, CSS

·        Familiarity with PHP, JavaScript, XML, image editing software (e.g. PhotoShop, GIMP), Flash, database driven websites, version control (SVN preferred), content management tools and methodologies, and user interface design

·        Hands-on experience with development and maintenance of web-based applications using an established web framework (e.g. Django, Ruby on Rails, .NET, STRUTS, etc.)

·        Some IA, project Management and client facing experience.

·        Detail oriented and able to manage multiple priorities and adhere to tight deadlines

·        Experience in both Windows and Mac development environments

·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·        Proven ability to successfully coach and manage a team

·        Proven ability to work in a fast growing/ever-changing technology and operational environment

 

Not a good fit:  Folks who are more Flash or ActionScript than HTML, CSS and Javascript.  Web Designer (there is not design involved in this role)

 

Good fit:  Folks who have demonstrated taking abstract directions and develop websites from them.
